For more than 40 years, Earth Day has been celebrated around the world to call attention to some of our most pressing environmental and social problems, including climate change, biodiversity loss, and dwindling natural resources.
America’s most recycled product by weight is asphalt. Last year, Wolford Contracting Company used 3,000 tons (6 million pounds) of recycled asphalt. Which is the equivalent of 1500 cars having been recycled. To date, America reclaims about 80 million tons of asphalt each year, and nearly 100 percent of that total is recycled. Commonly referred to as RAP, reclaimed asphalt pavement can be recycled into pavement that is as high, or even higher, in quality as pavements made of all-virgin materials. Also, the same asphalt material can be recycled again and again.
Happy Earth Day!
